COMPPARTNERS MARKS 10 YEARS IN BUSINESS WITH NEW MEDICARE SET-ASIDES SERVICE

IRVINE, CALIF. (April 24, 2008) — CompPartners, a workers’ compensation managed care organization, marked its 10th anniversary by adding Medicare Set-Aside services to its offerings for workers’ compensation payers.

“CompPartners’ integrated medical management system offers a comprehensive solution for everything from prioritizing claims from the onset of an injury to payment resolution and getting employees back to work,” said CEO Bruce Carlin.  “As our name suggests, we partner with payers and physicians to get injured employees the best possible care in the shortest amount of time.”  As a result, payer-partners reduce their administrative burdens and overall claims costs and strengthen employer-employee relations.

To top off its 10th anniversary, CompPartners has created a new division, offering Medicare Set-Aside Analyses (MSAs) and other future medical cost projection services.  “Called CompProjections, the new service determines appropriate future medical costs over a claimant’s lifetime,” explained Carlin. “The goal is to produce a justifiable and defensible allocation which meets both Medicare’s and the payer’s needs while not increasing settlement costs.” Like many of CompPartners’ services, its MSA services are available nationally.

CompPartners was founded in 1998 with four employees providing a medical network, telephonic case management, physician peer review, and employee enrollment services to California comp payers.  The past decade delivered numerous expansions in staff and services.  CompPartners became the first organization to be nationally accredited by URAC as an external review organization for workers’ compensation and was one of the first Health Care Organizations to launch a Medical Provider Network. Over the years, utilization review, medical bill review, and medical and disability case management using evidence-based guidelines to identify appropriate treatment and disability durations were added.

Today the company employs nearly 200 and is rapidly outgrowing its 11,000-square-foot Irvine, Calif. headquarters at 18881 Von Karman Avenue. CompPartners’ four founders, Carlin, Dr. Steven Rosen, John Swan and Steve Huntington, remain active in the company, which still serves many of its original clients, including the top three workers’ compensation insurance carriers in the country along with other workers’ compensation payers, such as state funds, third-party administrators, self-insured employers, and government entities.  CompPartners can be reached at 949-253-3111 or www.comppartners.com.
